The Smart School

Academic Philosophy and Curriculum

At The Smart School, we offer the best learning environments to ensure that your child becomes confident, articulate, aware of their surroundings, and actively engaged with the world around them. We want our students to achieve their maximum academic and social potential, to be engaged and responsive learners and to be, in other words, the best that they can be.

We believe that the education we provide enables our students to respond positively to the opportunities and challenges of the rapidly changing world. Today, our students must be prepared to deal with economic changes including the continued globalization and the rapid expansion of communication technologies. Our education must also reaffirm our commitment to the traditional values – to the virtues of truth, justice, honesty, trust and a sense of duty.

For all school years, we provide a knowledge and skills-based curriculum framework founded on (but not entirely composed of) the aims and objectives of the National Curriculum for the United Kingdom. Our curriculum, therefore, shares common principles and builds a sound foundation for future learning.

Curriculum

The Smart School curriculum seeks to raise the achievement levels of all students and to ensure that the quality of teaching and learning in our schools is of the highest standard. The core subjects include English, Urdu, Mathematics and General Science (Class 3 to 8). In Classes 9 and 10, Physics, Chemistry and Biology replace General Science. The rest of the subjects remain the same. The non-core subjects are Islamiyat, Social Studies (History and Geography), Art, Music, Computer Studies and Values Education. Project work is carried out in the schools to ensure hands-on experiences for the students. Student-centred learning is the hallmark of education at TSS.

About the Smart Learning Methodology

Curriculum and lesson planning is centralised at The Smart School Head Office. This ensures that all teachers and students benefit from the programmes prepared by experienced teachers and curriculum developers. The web-based system provides a single, common infrastructure to manage teaching, learning and training initiatives at The Smart School. To achieve this goal, our software will deliver e-learning with a secure login that will give users access to courses, multiple sessions and progress tracking through various tools. Additionally, the system will allow teachers and administrators to manage, keep track of, and evaluate all coursework.

At The Smart School, we use the ‘blended learning method’. This is a combination of web-based e-learning and traditional teaching methods. By using the relevant Information and Communication Technology (ICT) teaching and learning tools, computer labs, and web portals, the combination of e-learning and traditional teaching will assist every student in achieving their goals in the classroom.

Assessment / Examination

Parents wishing to admit a child to The Smart School should first register him/her for an admission test by completing the Admission Form available at the school office, after which they will receive an appointment card for the test and interview.
